The Skill Cards

Skill cards are linked to the Foundation areas but focus on achieving a certain level of proficiency in a particular skill. Girls must win at least 15 of these cards in each stage to win the peak awards. The level of challenge depends on which stage the girl is in. The cards themselves have an image on the front of the woman who inspired the award and a short summary of her life on the back  – these are either saints or Catholic women of note.

The Skill Cards in Practice

The Skill Cards take skills mentioned in the OKAS and HAAS programs and develop them so that the girls are truly skilled in that area. Each level has 5-10 'I' statements, for example from the Lilies Cooking Skill Card Criteria:

I can knead dough.
I can make clear and cream soups.
I can make pancakes.
I can cook pasta and rice.
I can crumb food.

The girls record their completion of a Skill Card the same as they do for the Foundation areas and are awarded the card by Guild Headquarters. Girls can achieve the same card in every level of the program. Girls can complete as many or as few of the cards as they like, but if they wish to attain their level peak award and be eligible for other awards they need to complete at least 15 Skill Cards in each level.
